The Tigers are on a bit of a roll as they host the Dodgers. Detroit swept the Reds and took three of four from the Guardians. Los Angeles just got swept by the Phillies. James Paxton takes the mound against Tarik Skubal. Paxton owns a good record, 7-2 despite a 4.24 ERA. It helps to be on a team that scores nearly five runs a game. Skubal’s 10-3 record is right in line with his 2.37 ERA. Sometimes high wins means you’re a great pitcher, and sometimes high wins means you played for a great team. ERA is one of the contexts.

The Mariners send Bryan Woo against the Angels and Tyler Anderson. Woo did a good job of stopping hits both last and this year, but this season he’s walking batters at a rate 1/5 of 2023. Anderson is a bright spot for the Angels with his 2.81 ERA. His BABIP is extremely low at .229.
