The Phillies phace the Pirates in Pittsburgh as pitchers Cristopher Sanchez and Luis Ortiz take the mound. Sanchez, seasonal age 27, is peaking at just the right time. He already exceeded his highest season inning total and owns a 2.96 ERA. He allowed just two home runs in 103 1/3 innings. Ortiz’s improvement also comes from limiting the long ball. He allowed 13 homers in 86 2/3 innings in 2023, just three homers in 66 2/3 innings this season.

The Astros now lead the Mariners by .001 points of winning percentage in the AL West. Houston stood ten games back through games of June 18th. Since then the Astros are 18-6, .750, the best record in the majors. The Mariners went 8-16, .333, second lowest winning percentage to the White Sox at 7-18. Framber Valdez takes on George Kirby in the game. Valdez stands 5-3 with a 3.49 ERA in his career against Seattle. He allowed just four home runs in 77 1/3 innings. Kirby stands 2-0 with a 1.57 ERA in five starts versus Houston. He has yet to allow a home run to the Astros.
