Players of the Month

September belonged to Shohei Ohtani. Yes, Victor Robles posted an OBP seven points higher. Ohtani, on the other hand, posted a .766 slugging percentage, 120 higher than second place Kyle Schwarber. Both hit ten home runs to lead the majors. Those homers were part of his MLB leading .393 BA. His 32 RBI were then more than anyone else in the month batting leadoff. He also led in runs score with 27. Just to top off everything, he led the majors with 16 stolen bases and did not get caught.

Nick Martinez of the Reds also makes an easy pick. His ERA comes in at he the second lowest, (0.83) but he pitched 8 2/3 more than Jose Quintana (0.72). On top of that, Martinez did not allow a home run, and walked just four batters. With his teammate Rhett Lowder also posting a superlative month, Reds fans should have something to look forward to next season.
