Twins GM Thad Levine separated from the organization, but it’s not clear to me if he was asked to leave or decided to move on:

An announcement Friday said Levine, 52, was leaving “to pursue new challenges and opportunities, both inside and outside of baseball.”

Levine joined the Twins in November 2016 and helped the club capture three American League Central division titles (2019, 2020, 2023) and make four postseason berths.

It’s worth noting that in a large number of organizations now, the general manager is not at the top of the food change. After eight fairly successful years with Minnesota, he may want to move up to the VP of Baseball Operations level with some other club. Also, when an employer fires you without wanting say they fired you, the “spend more time with my family” excuse is the one offered.
