Aaron Judge and Juan Soto of the Yankees saw action on Monday as members of the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Judge went one for three with a walk, while Soto drew a walk in four trips to the plate. They rank one and four respectively as the Royals take the game 4-2.

Maikel Garcia of the Royals posted the highest game score of the day in the win, a 68. Moved into the leadoff slot to face the lefty Carlos Rodon, he went four for five with an RBI. The move would have been more beneficial if Bobby Witt Jr.and Vinnie Pasquantino had not combined to go 0 for 9 behind him.

Note that this wasn’t an obviously good move. Garcia owns a .297 career OBP in the leadoff slot (regular season). His advantage against LHP comes from power, not OBP. He is even against both sides at .301.
