Playoffs Today

The Phillies and Mets move to Queens for game three of their NLDS, kicking off at 5:00 PM EDT. The game features a pair of evenly matched starters in Aaron Nola and Sean Manaea. Nola sports a 3.57 ERA and finished the regular season six games over .500. Manaea brings 3.47 regular season ERA to the game, and is also six games over .500. Nola pitched a shutout against the Met early in the season, and got knocked around by New York late He walked two batters in 13 1/3 innings, and allowed two home runs. Manaea had his ups and downs against the Phillies. He only walked two batters in 16 2/3 innings, but allowed four home runs.

At 9 PM EDT, 6 PM PDT, the Dodgers take on the Padres in San Diego with Walker Buehler facing Michael King. It took Buehler a long time to come back from injury, but there were some signs of hope in his last five starts of the regular season. Note that his final appearance came against the Padres, and he allowed one run in five innings, striking out just one batter. It could be that Buehler needs to abandon the big strikeout game, and allow his great control to get batters out. It’s time to be more Greg Maddux and less Roger Clemens. King turned out to be an outstanding acquisition by the Padres as he posted the best season of his career. Early in the season the Dodgers got to him, but he allowed just one unearned run in his last two starts against Los Angeles.

Enjoy!
