Edwin Diaz made the save interesting for the Mets. He walked the first two Phillies he faced, then got the next three batters to preserve the 4-1 lead and send the Mets to the NLCS. The Mets saw fifteen batters earn their way on in the game. They went 3 for 15 with runners in scoring position, but only one of those this scored runs, the grand slam by Francisco Lindor. The Phillies went 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position, in again what could have been a much higher scoring game.
The Mets now await the winner of the Padres-Dodgers series. No matter who wins, the Mets will be heading to the West Coast for the opening of the NLCS.
