Bad Night in Florida

My thoughts go out to the people of Florida this morning. The hurricane Milton not only blew strong, but spawned tornados as well. Winds tore the roof off Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The building was supposed to house first responders, and you can see the beds on the field.

When a building that is supposed to survive a storm doesn’t make it, you know things are very bad.

Will this give the Rays an opportunity to break their lease? Every MLB team should be thinking of playing in October. Yes, you can’t play during a hurricane, but afterwards the stadium should be playable.
Or at least they get a new dome.

They are in the process of building a new stadium, but that will take a few years. (It only took 13 months to build the empire state building. One would think there might be a way to build the new stadium faster.) At the moment, I don’t know how hard Disney World was hit, but they have a very nice stadium there, and the Rays crowds would look much bigger. Or maybe the team revives the Montreal plan and play there until either Tropicana field is repaired or the new stadium is ready.
