Best Batter Today

None of the top five in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings saw action on Saturday. Four of the top five remain in action going into the various League Championship Series. Aaron Judge of the Yankees ranks first, followed closely by Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers. Juan Soto of the Yankees ranks fourth, with Francisco Lindor of the Mets fifth. Jose Ramirez of the Guardians sits in seventh, with Gleyber Torres of the Yankees 13th. Pete Alonso (27th), Steven Kwan (29th), and Teoscar Hernandez (30th) round out the top 30.

Lane Thomas of the Guardians posted the best game score of the day in the finale of the ALDS, a 68. He went two for four with a grand slam and five RBI, his home run putting Cleveland ahead for good. He hit .253/.331/.407 for the Nationals this season, then .209/.267/.390 after the trade to the Guardians. It wasn’t a slam dunk great deal, but with him hitting .316/.316/.632 in the post-season, the Guardians likely will call this a win.
