Best Batter Today

Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers remained in second place in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. His two for four with a walk was good for a game score of 60, which leaves him a little less than eight points behind Aaron Judge of the Yankees. Francisco Lindor of the Mets, with a game score of 46, slips down to sixth place, as the idle Yordan Alvarez of the Astros ranks fifth.

The best game score of the day belonged to Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers, a 62. He went two for three with a walk and an RBI in the 9-0 win over the Mets. Freeman’s injury has not stopped him from reaching base. With a .353/.389/.353 slash line, however, he’s not generating any power. Conserving outs is a good way to win games. Freeman now ranks 51st.
