Best Batter Today

Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers remained atop the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings after going two for four with a walk in the 10-5 win over the Mets, a game that clinched the National League pennant for the Dodgers. Ohtani posted a .364/.548/.636 slash line in the six-game series, one of six extremely high OBPs produced by the Dodgers lineup.

His teammate, Tommy Edman went two for five in the game with a double, homerun, and four RBI to collect the highest game score of the day, a 67. Edman also won the NLCS MVP Award, with a .407/.393/.630 slash line. Posting an OBP lower than your batting average is tough to do, but Edman was one of the few Dodgers who didn’t draw a walk. He also hit a sacrifice fly for the extra PA in the OBP denominator.

Francisco Lindor of the Mets went one for four with a walk in his final game of the season and remained in fifth place.

The top three players on the list, Othani, Aaron Judge, and Juan Soto, all meet in the World Series starting on Friday.
