Two fans interfere with a catch by Mookie Betts as Gleyber Torres leads off the bottom of the first. The ball is hit in foul territory down the rightfield line. Betts jumped and caught the ball with his hand over the wall. A fan grabbed his glove and pried the ball out, while another fan held the other hand. Betts was not that tall, and had to keep jumping on his toes to keep his hands from being pulled.
There’s no excuse for that. Those fans should not only be thrown out of the game, but they should be arrested, as they could have done serious damage to Betts’ hands and arms.
