Matt Kemp hits a grand slam in the first inning against Washington and the Dodgers lead the Nationals 5-0.
Update: That’s followed by Dukes and Dunn (country music duo?) call each other off a Casey Blake fly ball in deep right-center and the ball drops between them for a triple. In the top of the first, Vince Scully was unintentionally funny when he said that Dunn, despite his 275 pounds, was agile enough to play the outfield.
Blake scores on a sacrifice fly to make it 6-0.
Update: The Red Sox don’t need Manny either as they tie a major league record with 12 runs in one inning. Jason Bay has turned into Ted Williams. With a double and homer tonight, his OBA stands at .476 and his slugging percentage at .653. (Ted finished his career at .482/.634.)
Update: It was pointed out in the comments that the record was for runs scored before an out.
To be precise, the record the Red Sox broke was for runs scored in an inning before recording an out.
@Adam Villani: Thanks, Adam.
