How did the Athletics get to the point where they’re playing a hitter with a .336 OBA and a .324 slugging percentage at first base? Bobby Crosby took the bag today, and supplied the only run with a homer in Oakland’s 6-1 loss to Seattle. I find it hard to believe they don’t have a first baseman in the minor leagues who can at least step in and slug .450. It’s a sorry state of affairs in Oakland right now.
Erik Bedard kept his trade value high, allowing the one run over 6 2/3 innings. That brought his ERA down to a very respectable 2.48. In many years that would lead the league.
It’s a good thing that no one ever decided to write a book about the GM… or make a movie…
