J.A. Happ has proved to be a shining light in the Phillies rotation this season. With his win today, a 5-2 victory over the Pirates, Happ goes to 6-0, 4-0 in ten starts. He allowed just one run in seven innings of work, lowering his overall ERA to 2.90 and his starter’s ERA to 3.03. His control is improving as two walks today brings his total for the season to 32 in 87 innings of work, almost one every three innings. The Phillies go into the All-Star break with a sweep of the Pirates and a five game winning streak and no worse than a four-game lead depending on the outcome of the Marlins/Diamondbacks game.
Happy Pitcher
