The Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles 2-1, New York’s third 2-1 victory in a row. Until Saturday, the Yankees were 0-8 when scoring 1 or 2 runs, but their 3-8 record and .273 winnings percentage ranks them second behind the Angels in winning low scoring games. Including shutouts the Yankees have been held to two runs or less 14 times this season.
That’s a big improvement over 2008. They played 50 games that season in which they scored two runs or less. They’ve improved the offense as a much smaller percentage of their games are resulting in a low number of runs.
For the second day in a row, all three runs were scored on solo home runs.
