One Step at a Time

Tommy Hanson took another step tonight to becoming a dominant starter. He walked 15 in his first four starts, but over his previous three he reduced that to five walks in 18 innings. With the walks under control, he upped his strikeouts tonight. He did walk three in seven innings, but set down eleven Giants via the K. After giving up three home runs in his first game, he’s only allowed two since. He learned to keep the ball in the park, learned to control the free passes, and now his strikeouts are building. That’s the tripod of pitching.

The Giants bullpen turned a close game into a blow out as Sanchez allowed three runs in six innings, but the Braves win by a final score of 11-3, sending Hanson’s record to 5-0 with a 3.00 ERA. That a nice way for any rookie to begin his career.

Some good news for the Braves. Maybe they can get a run going and keep the division interesting, otherwise I fear that the Phillies will just run away with it.
It will be interesting to see what the Braves do when Hudson is ready. Do they go to a 6 man rotation or does one of them go to the bullpen or leave via trade?
