Games of the Day

The Rockies and Phillies would meet in the NLDS as things stand today, and they continue their series in Philadelphia as Jorge De La Rosa faces J.A. Happ. De La Rosa gives up fewer hits on the road, leading to a lower ERA. Happ’s ERA goes up to 4.47 in Philadelphia, as he gives up a lot more hits at home. This could be a slugfest (or at least a single fest) tonight.

I have to admit there aren’t a lot of compelling pitching matchups today. So check out Joe Mauer as the Twins continue their series with Cleveland and Ichiro Suzuki as the Mariners visit Kansas City. Joe went 3 for 5 Tuesday night to raise his batting average to .359. He now trails Ichiro by five points as Suzuki put up a 2 for 5 performance to raise his BA to .364.

Albert Pujols gets to take another crack at the Mets pitching staff as he trails Hanley Ramirez by 19 points in the NL batting race. That’s the leg of the triple crown he needs. For his career, Albert hits .344 in August, .341 in September, and .340 in regular season October games. He’ll need to repeat that to win the batting title.

Enjoy!
