Mauer Power

Joe Mauer hits an opposite field home run in the first inning to give the Twins an early 1-0 lead over Texas. That’s his 23rd of the season. He hit 29 over the previous three seasons. The hit raises his batting average to .379.

Update: The first five Rangers reach base as Texas takes a 2-1 lead against Francisco Liriano. The bases are loaded with no one out in the bottom of the first.

Update: A sacrifice fly brings in another run and the first ends with the Rangers leading 3-1.
