Giants Gain

The San Francisco Giants salvage a game against the Dodgers, winning 7-2 behind another strong performance by Brad Penny. Once again, Brad’s strikeouts are down from his time with the Red Sox as he recorded just two Ks, but he also allowed only five hits. That gives him a .169 opposition batting average since joining the Giants.

More importantly, the Giants gain on the Rockies, as Colorado falls to San Diego 7-3. Adrian Gonzalez missed the cycle by a home run. He has more home runs that doubles and triples combined this season. Colorado now goes to San Francisco for a wild card show down. The Rockies lead the season series against the Giants 8-7.
