Singles Afternoon

The Twins lead the Tigers 4-1 in the top of the seventh as Nick Punto leads off with a single to left. There have been fourteen hits in the game so far, all singles. The two teams also combined for three walks and two hit batters.

Update: Span follows with a double, the first extra-base hit of the game. That puts runners at 2nd and 3rd as the Tigers go to the bullpen to replace Nate Robertson.

Update: Cuddyer and Kubel each strike out with the bases loaded, Kubel looking on three pitches. The Twins blow a golden opportunity to blow the game wide open. They continue to lead 4-1 at the stretch.

Update: Second time’s a charm. The Twins load the bases again in the eighth, but this time Orlando Cabrera drives the ball off the wall in left, clearing the bases. The Twins now lead 7-1.

Update: Mauer follows with a single to score Cabrera, and Joe is 2 for 4 with a walk on the day. It’s 8-1 Twins.
