Meaningful Weekend

Joe Nathan pitches the ninth to hold an 8-3 Twins lead as Minnesota manages a split with Detroit. That makes this weekend a meaningful one as the Twins return to close the Metrodome with the Royals and the Tigers host the White Sox. The White Sox are taking the series seriously as they held back Jake Peavy to pitch the opener. Obviously, the Twins have the easier opponent, but they do face Zack Greinke tomorrow. Minnesota fans are going to be rooting as hard for the White Sox as they are for the Twins on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They’ll need the help to win at least two more games than the Tigers.
