Top of the Ninth

The Red Sox are coming up in the top of the ninth still trailing 4-1.

Update: Victor Martinez flies out to center for the first out.

Update: Jepsen stayed in the game after getting the last out in the eighth.

Update: Youkilis doubles and Fuentes comes in for the save.

Update: Ortiz flies out to left. He’s 0 for 8 with four K in the two games.

Update: Jason Bay draws his second walk of the game to bring the tying run to the plate in the person of Mike Lowell.

Update: Lowell flies out to center, and the Angels win 4-1. Weaver pitched a great game, giving up two hits in 7 1/3 innings, walking 2 and striking out seven. His changeup looked very effective, as I wanted to swing at it from the comfort of my chair. Beckett pitched well until the seventh, when Francona left him in one batter two long and Aybar tripled in the last two runs of the game.

The Red Sox go home down 0-2, but they are tough to beat at Fenway. I suspect Sunday’s game will be a lot of fun.
