Perfect Eighth

Cliff Lee pitches his fifth 1-2-3 inning of the night, retiring the Dodgers in order in the eighth. He struck out two more to bring his total for the game to 10 and his total for the post season to 20 in 24 1/3 innings. He now holds a .074 ERA in the playoffs, and with 114 pitches thrown he might be just three outs away from his second complete game.

Update: Just to put a punctuation mark on things, Cliff Lee singles in the bottom of the eighth. He now has two hits in the post season. He went 7 for 38 with two doubles for the Phillies in the regular season, not bad for a former AL pitcher.

Update: Two batters later, Shane Victorino hits a three-run homer, and the Phillies lead 11-0.
