Jeter and Aaron

Derek Jeter won the Hank Aaron Award for best offensive player in the AL. Please. If you don’t want to give it to Mauer because he missed too many games, Mark Teixeira, better than Jeter, captures the completeness of Aaron as an offensive force. The Yankees first baseman hits for average, gets on base and hits for power. Mauer, of course, does all those things even better. Maybe the voters were enamored with Derek’s 30 stolen bases in 35 attempts.

Maybe they see it as their last chance to award him something? He’s having one of his best seasons and probably won’t duplicate this again, but I agree that Teixiera or Mauer should have gotten it over him.
