Phil Code pitched in relief for the New York Yankees in 2009. Detroit recently acquired him in the Curtis Granderson deal. Coke, in his brief time in the majors posted very good strikeout and walk numbers, but gave up a bit too many home runs. His home/road split, however, shows something mentioned about the new stadium earlier today; it helps homers but hurts other offense. I believe that’s a good sign for him heading to Detroit.
I’m just waiting for the inevitable: a guy named Phil Coke is destined to play for the Mets. “Well, with Santana knocked out early, it looks like the Mets are going to need Coke to get through the rest of the day”. “It looks like the Mets have made their decision, yes they’re looking to get Coke”. “It’s definitely exciting when Coke gets in the game, but it’s also a little nerve-wracking. I’m not sure about this pitching change, and you know the manager’s not going to take the fall. If the Mets lose this game, you know they’re going to blame Coke for their decisions.”
@Hunter Felt: LOL!
