Sandy Koufax agreed to help out Joe Torre’s charity by sitting for a public interview. I hope it gets recorded so all of us can see it eventually.

The thing about Koufax is that while he ranks as one of baseball’s biggest living enigmas, it’s not as if he lives life as a hermit. He’s often seen quietly dabbling around the Dodgers and has worked as a spring training instructor. (True story: Mariano Duncan had to help me pick my jaw off the ground when I saw Koufax in Vero Beach a few spring trainings ago.)

But to hear that Koufax is willing to open up about his life and career — even if it’s just for a short while — is just the kind of news that’s even more welcome in a week like this one.
