The Red Sox have allowed 34 stolen bases and only caught one runner. If you assign .3 runs per steal and -.6 runs per catch, that means steals have added nine runs to Red Sox opponents, or 0.6 per game. Over a whole season, that’s 97 runs, or about 10 losses for the Red Sox. Needless to say, Boston can’t afford to add then losses in the AL East.
