Ricky so Fine

Ricky Romero cools the hot Texas bats as he pitches the first complete game and shutout of his career as Toronto wins 6-0. Romero struck out 12 and walked just one as he limited the Rangers to five hits, all singles. He’s striking out more than a batter an inning this year, and with 21 walks in 56 1/3 innings, his BB per 9 is starting to look good, too.

The previously light-hitting Jose Bautista delivered two home runs in support, his second multi-home run game of the year. That gives him nine homers in the middle of May, giving him a very good chance of topping his career high of 16 set in 2006. A career .404 slugger, he’s up to .511 after today’s game.
