Jackson in the Eighth

Evan Longoria, Carlos Pena and Matt Joyce are scheduled to face Edwin Jackson in the eighth with a no-hitter intact. The DBacks lead 1-0 over the Rays, and Jackson has thrown 117 pitches.

Update: Evan Longoria flies out to right for the first out of the inning. Five outs to go.

Update: Carlos Pena gets ahead 2-1. He hits into the shirt, but Stephen Drew boots the ball for an error. Drew was playing on the first base side of second. Carl Crawford pinch runs.

Update: Matt Joyce gets ahead 2-0. He pops out to shallow rightfield for the second out. Four outs to go, but Jackson is starting to look tired. He’s at 131 pitches. B.J. Upton is up.

Update: B.J. Upton doesn’t get to hit as Carl Crawford gets caught stealing. The no-hitter is intact through eight innings. Jackson is at 134 pitches, 70 for strikes.
