Inconvenient Lee

This may make it tougher for the Mets to trade for Cliff Lee:

An examination at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York on Monday morning revealed that right-hander Jenrry Mejia has a posterior cuff strain in his right shoulder. The announcement suggested Mejia would resume throwing when “tolerated.”

He’s a prospect, so the Mariners may still be willing to take him. I suppose if another team offers a pitcher of slightly lesser value who is healthy, Seattle might go with that deal instead.
