Killer Defense

Chipper Jones draws a walk and Brian McCann singles to start the seventh against Stephen Strasburg. He then induces Troy Glaus to hit a double play ground to Ian Desmond, who boots the ball. Eric Hinske hits a sacrifice fly to center, and both runners move up as Nyjer Morgan throws to the wrong base. Instead of being out of the inning, Yunel Escobar singles in a run, and the Braves lead 2-0 as Strasburg comes out of the game.

Desmond was awful defensively in Strasburg’s last start. Instead of having a personal catcher, maybe the Nats should have a defensive wizard at short to play in Stephen’s starts.

Update: The Braves score three more in the inning as Straburg is charged with four runs, three of them earned.
