Rocking the Bullpen

The Padres bullpen sports an ERA in the mid twos, but the Rockies got to them last night. Wade LeBlanc had allowed one run on a Carlos Gonzalez home run through six innings, but put two batters on in the seventh before Bud Black called in Edward Mujica, one of their high strikeout, low walk relievers. Clint Barmes greeted him with a three-run home to put the Rockies up 4-0, and they did not relinquish the lead as Colorado goes on to a 6-3 win. Clint went two for four on the night with four RBI.

The win moves the Rockies past the Giants, who lost to the Dodgers 4-2, into third place in the NL West, just four games behind San Diego. Including the game today, Colorado plays the Padres four more times before the All-Star break.
