Lean to the Left

Justin Morneau went 2 for 3 against lefty Andy Oliver this afternoon, driving in two runs with a homer and a double in the Twins 5-1 win over the Tigers. That gives Justin a .343 BA against LHP this season (37/108) and a .620 slugging percentage. Through 2009, he hit .261 against lefties with a .450 slugging percentage. I don’t know if it’s a real improvement, as it is just over 100 at bats. It is, however, the reason he’s an all-star and MVP candidate.

Minnesota extends their lead to 1 1/2 games over Detroit in the AL Central with the win.
