13 Run Pool

The San Deigo Padres avoid a sweep by pounding the Rockies 13-3 Thursday afternoon. The scored that many runs without hitting a home run. They produced 12 singles and two doubles, but there were plenty of other men on base as the Colorado pitchers issued eight walks and hit a batter. It the fourth time in the last 16 days that a team scored at least 13 runs without the benefit of a home run, and the sixth time this year.

Clayton Richard baffled the Rockies hitters as he walked just on and struck out ten in seven innings of work. That puts his K/BB over two as he now has 81 K and 38 BB.
