Hughes fools batters into thinking he can be hit, but this year he bears down with runners on base, releasing his evil pitches to hold batters to a .169 BA and a .220 slugging percentage in those situations. He’s often used as a LOOGY, coming in for one out and leaving the game, although his only platoon advantage against left-handed batters is in preventing power.
