The Ed Kranepool of the Washington Nationals, Cristian Guzman, found himself traded to the Texas Rangers today to replace Ian Kinsler. I have not seen the names of the prospects sent to Washington. Guzman is not a bad hitter for a second baseman. Kinsler’s time on the DL should be short, and Cristian will then become a good utility man for Texas. They’ve added depth and flexibility here, since Guzman could spell all three skill infielders. He’ll allow Ron Washington to keep his starters rested down the stretch and ready for the playoffs.
