Roy Oswalt’s first pitch with the Phillies results in a Nyjer Morgan triple as the Washington leadoff hitter drives the ball into the right-center gap to the wall. He scores on a ground out. Things can only go up from here. 🙂 The Nationals lead 1-0 in the bottom of the first.
Giving up a hit to Morgan must be the way new Phillies pitchers get initiated. Roy Halladay’s first pitch as a Phillie on Opening Day got hit by Morgan for an infield single. On his second pitch, Morgan stole second. He scored on a Ryan Zimmerman single two batters later.
Things improved for Halladay after that, both in the game and the season.
