The Polanco Win

Placido Polanco pushed across the game winning run with a single in the top of the 11th inning as the Phillies come back from an early 4-2 deficit to defeat the Nationals 6-4. Polanco collected three hits on the day, including a double, scoring two runs and driving in two and he accounted for a large part of the Phillies offense. With a .317/.349/.437 slash line, a big improvement over the .259/.304/.382 line from Philadelphia’s 2009 third basemen. The Phillies are now 9-2 in their last 11 games and have cut the Braves lead to 2 1/2 games.
