Hurt Game

Carlos Silva was removed after four batters in the Cubs Rockies game today:

Carlos Silva was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver on Sunday afternoon after experiencing an abnormally high heart rate during his start in an 8-7 loss to Colorado.

The problem was corrected on the way to the hospital, the Cubs said, and Silva was resting comfortably. He will remain in the hospital overnight for observations.

Let’s just hope this had to do with the high altitude and not a more serious problem.

The Rockies lost Dexter Fowler during the game:

Rockies center fielder Dexter Fowler was carted off the field after crashing into the wall in the ninth inning.

Fowler departed with bruised ribs and a bruised left hip. He will have a follow-up MRI Monday with team doctor Thomas Noonan.

We know how long it took Jacoby Ellsbury to recover from a rib injury. The Rockies have to hope Fowler’s isn’t that serious.

The Rockies won the slugfest 8-7.
