Failing in the First

For the second start in a row, Johan Santana pitched a poor first inning. He allowed three hits, including a double and two walks. That led to three Braves run as they take a 3-0 lead on the Mets. Opponents are slugging over .500 against Johan in the first inning this season, the highest slugging percentage he’s allowing in any inning.
