Hits and Power

The Blue Jays had not hit the Yankees for a high average this season, .216 coming into Monday night’s game. The did hit for power, however, with 11 home run six games against New York and five other long hits. They did both tonight as Toronto collected 10 hits, eight of them for extra bases, including two more homers as they win 8-5. Vernon Well picked up a double and homer to raise his slugging percentage to .528.

Nick Swisher hit two home runs for the Yankees, and Mark Teixeira went deep as well. They are tied for the team lead with 22 homers each.
