Figgins Since the Fight

The Mariners defeated the Rangers Tuesday night 3-2. The Mariners put a lot of pressure on Texas last night, with 11 hits and a walk, although Franklin Gutierrez‘s tie-breaking home run in the fifth was a solo shot.

Chone Figgins picked up three hits in the game, and since his July 25th fight in the dugout, the second baseman has been on fire. He’s batting .389/.436/.528 over the Mariners last nine games, with multiple hits in five of those. Despite Figgins hitting well, Seattle is 2-7 in that stretch. While Chone certainly was a problem for the Mariners, this stretch shows that the Mariners losing has been a team effort.
