Adrian Beltre came to the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning with the bases loaded. It was his 23 time at the plate with the bases loaded, and all he had to show for it was two singles, a walk and a sacrifice fly. This time, however, he connected for a home run into the monster seats at Fenway for a 4-1 Boston lead over Cleveland. It was the eighth grand slam of his career.
I heard them mention it was his 23rd AB during the broadcast, but they did not mention how he had done in those AB’s.
I had assumed, given his seasonal RBI totals, that he had done very well in those 23 AB.
I assumed wrong!
He could very easily have another 10 RBI. He REALLY didn’t like batting in Safeco.
