Slowey in the Seventh

Jack Cust leads off against Kevin Slowey in the Oakland seventh in Minnesota. Slowey has a no-hitter intact. Cust walks to start the inning.

Update: Kevin Kouzmanoff grounds to first. Michael Cuddyer steps on first, but his throw to second is late. One down.

Update: Slowey hits Mark Ellis with a pitch. He’s over 100 pitches, so he might not last much longer in the game.

Update: Rajai Davis hits into an around the horn double play to end the inning. Slowey has thrown 106 pitches through seven innings.

Update: With a 1-0 lead, and the Twins in a close division race, Ron Gardenhire needs to concentrate on winning the game more than getting his pitcher a no-hitter.

Update: Slowey is getting hugs in the dugout, so it will be up to the bullpen to keep the no-hitter going.

Update: An error leads to Jim Thome hitting a three-run homer to give the Twins a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh. That puts his career total at 580.
