Kyle Kendrick just got thrown out a first by rightfielder Angel Pagan. Angel was playing shallow in right, and threw out Kendrick by more than a step. I haven’t seen that since Larry Walker did it occasionally. Nice positioning by Pagan. The Phillies and Mets are scoreless in the top of the third.
No big deal, but the Nats’ right fielder Bernadina did it a couple weeks back. I think it was Oswalt’s first at-bat for the Phillies. As you say, playing very shallow was the key.
Yeah, and to be fair to Kendrick, as soon as he hit that ball he put his head down and ran hard. He wasn’t even beat by just a step. It was at least 2 or 3 steps.
But he isn’t slow! I mean, he didn’t look like Crawford out there, but far from a Molina. Just great positioning, a sharply hit liner, and a good hard accurate throw.
