The Yankees go seventeen innings without scoring a run before Jose Valverde walks in a run in the ninth inning. That’s all the Yankee scored, however, as Derek Jeter grounds into a double play with the bases loaded and one out. Jose gave up four walks and a hit, but the Yankees could get the big hit to tie the game as they fall 3-1. Max Scherzer pitched six shutout innings for the win, walking two and striking out six. Both Nick Swisher and Alex Rodriguez left the game early for New York.

Javier Vazquez threw 106 pitches in four innings of work.

The Tigers record is now two games better than the Twins was on this date last year. What are the odds Of the Tigers returning the favor and catching them on the last day of the year?
