Giants Stay Close

Jonathan Sanchez threw eight brilliant innings as the Giants beat the Phillies 5-2. That cuts the Phillies wild card lead to one game. Sanchez allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out seven. In thirteen innings against the Phillies this year he’s allowed five hits and two runs.

The youngsters hit as well as Buster Posey doubled twice and Pablo Sandoval homered. The top three teams in the wild card race, Philadelphia, San Francisco and St. Louis are separated by two games.
