399

Albert Pujols homers in the first inning to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. The homer brings his career total to 399, so he can reach the nice round number of 400 any time now.

Ross Ohlendorf started the game, but left after two batters. I assume he was injured, as most pitchers aren’t removed after allowing a hit and a walk.

The Cardinals lead the Pirates 4-0 in the top of the third.

Update: Pujols doubles and scores in the fifth to give St. Louis a 5-0 lead. His 2 for 3 so far raises his BA to .318, .005 behind the NL leader Joey Votto. He already leads the NL in home runs and RBI.

Update: Pujols singles in the sixth, and now just needs a triple for the cycle. His BA is up to .319.

Update: Ohlendorf left with a shoulder injury.
