Games of the Day

The best pitching matchup of the night takes place at Citi Field where Josh Johnson of the Marlins faces R.A. Dickey. With a .273 OBP allowed, Johnson is keeping so many batters off base that he’s only face a bases loaded situation four times, and the only run allowed came on a sacrifice fly. Dickey, with a. 288 opposition OBP found himself in 14 bases loaded situations, and held batters to a 1 for 13 with a sacrifice fly, the one hit a single.

The Twins and Rangers continue their series as they fight for first round home field advantage. Carl Pavano takes on Colby Lewis. Pavano pitched to contact the last time he faced Texas, walking one and striking out one, but allowing just seven hits and two runs. Lewis is one strikeout short of 9.0 per nine innings, but he only struck out one in six innings when he face the Twins this year.

Finally, the Red and Giants continue to battle for NL playoff spots as Jonathan Sanchez hosts Travis Wood. Wood’s low ERA comes from good K/BB/HR numbers combined with a .125 BA allowed with runners in scoring position. Hitters need to get to Sanchez early as he BA allowed in highest in the first inning, and drops to below .220 after 45 pitches and doesn’t rise as his pitch count goes up.

Enjoy!
